Even if it is Iconic, there could be differing looks to the same ship that were deeper than a new paintjob. Different versions of aircraft, tanks, and firearms look nowhere near the same, perhaps something subtle for differing dominixes? Dominii ....

So we finally get a navy dominix, so its not a missile-throwing drone-disaster but it will suffice. Fow now. I do remember that some years, months, and days ago someone had actually proposed a different design for the dominix, something less metal...

The Dominix Needs some love, seriously. There was a fine artist on here a bit back with redesigns for the Dominix and I'm not sure what came of that (other than perhaps Relic hiring him for homeworld 3 - heh) but I think the Dominix needs a factio...
